One lonely FO

On a quick break from writing (and I almost missed daylight today too — sorry about the blah-ness of these photos!)

Pattern: Pomatomus Socks, from Knitty Winter ‘05
Yarn: Koigu PPPM, color #P13093 (I think!)
Needles: Susan Bates dpns, US 1 (2.25, I think)

Thoughts:
1. I love Koigu. Can I say it again? I love Koigu. I picked this yarn with the sock-recipient in mind (they are a gift). I wasn’t sure I was crazy about it — I would have chosen something else for myself. But look at the colors combined in this one yarn! Look at the way they shift and fade! There are these beautiful blue speckles that emerge here and there (and occasionally pool, but that’s ok). It’s so silky and textured and amazing. This was my first time working with Koigu, and now I want to knit with nothing else. I love it.

2. I love Susan Bates dpns. I found them in Boston when I was there over New Years — for $10, I got a set of five needles in each of four sizes, conveniently color coordinated so I could tell them apart. They are pointy and metal and light as all get out. And I just knit a two socks full of twisted stitches with them and they still aren’t bowed from my grip-of-steel (all my other sock needles bend after I’ve used them a few times). I want to use nothing else. Except, maybe, my trusted Inox dpns.

3. I’m so pleased with this pattern. My skill leaves something to be desired in some places (no photos of the boo boos included because these are a gift and hopefully the recipient won’t notice — I made no mistakes. But there are a few things that came out wonky). But the pattern is just plain lovely.
And here they are, in my (well-worn) Crocs. ‘Cause all my favorite socks get their picture taken in Crocs.

Gorgeous socks — lucky recipient. Koigu is indeed a treet to knit. And wear. Those colours go very well with the Poto pattern.
they are BEAUTIFUL! well done for completing what looks to me like a really hard sock pattern. the yarn is beautiful and works perfectly with the pattern - the recipient is very lucky indeed!
Fantastic! I knit a pair of Pomatomus for my sister for Christmas and really loved the pattern (and the Koigu I used, of course–it’s definitely addicting!).
I have spent I don’t know how long telling you and everyone who will listen how much I love the Pomatomus pattern. This pair is especially lovely; the recipient is going to swoon. I’d made a pair as a gift, though I never gave them (you know why) so I gave them to myself, and I wore them for the first time this weekend. Yay for Pomatomus. And Koigu; it’s my fave too.
I’m so glad that the Koigu ended up being everything you’d hoped. I’d thought about getting you some for Yarn Aboard, but then, as you know, went in a different direction…
They are lovely!! I’m sure the recipient will be thrilled. It’s not me, is it?? Darn.
Those pomatomi are some real lookers! Love the color–koigu is the yarn of the gods.
Beautiful! Really stunning — nice job.
These are great! I hope mine look and fit that nicely!
Oh my, I’ve yet to work with Koigu but your color and pattern combo makes some amazing socks. Now I really need to get some.
Your Pomatomus socks look great!! I’m hoping to try this pattern soon and I’ve already got the yarn picked. I chose Koigu (which I’ve never used before) but I was worried that the yardage on the skeins wouldn’t be enough as the pattern calls for more. Did you find you had a lot of yarn left over?
