Things I’ve learned…

1. Non-drowsy cold medicines, of all varieties, make me feel high. I used to think it was just Day-quil, but no. It’s all non-drowsy meds. Whatever it is they put in there to counteract the soporific qualities makes me absolutely dizzy-loopy. It’s a challenge to knit on size 0 needles when you feel loopy.
2. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — there is something pleasing beyond all measure about tubular cast on and a twisted 1×1 rib. It just makes me giggle.
3. I don’t like posting without pictures. This is why I’ve been going so many days recently without posting — thanks to global warming and our recent delightful noreaster, it’s been impossible to take decent pictures of my knitting. So I post anyway…
I’m in Charlottesville right now on a one-day layover on my drive to Kentucky. My patient mom has lent me her hands almost every hour so I can check the shape and sizing on her new fingerless mitts. As a result, I’ve got one finished and the other on the way. I was actually worried these mitts would be a boring knit — straight stockinette on size 0 needles isn’t exactly my dream knit. But I really enjoy the fabric that Lorna’s Laces creates and watching the colors pool and shift propelled me through these little gloves. I’ll have an FO before I’m back in Philly.
And now off to bed, because tomorrow I’m headed to Hillbilly Days!
It’s sad but true that knitblog posts sans photos pale in comparison to those with. But I’m totally with you on the twisted rib (I’ve not yet done a tubular cast-on, but I know I would adore it. Can’t wait to see the finished mitts! I am loving all these alternate uses for sock yarn.
Have fun at Hillbilly Days! I hope it’s sunny there. And I hope you’re feeling better!
